I have no idea why they are called fly traps when spiders and ants are their primary victims.

It’s really cool to see a plant devour spiders, ants, bugs etc… So cool to see what nature can do to keep the cycle of life going…. I bought a couple Venus Fly Traps and my kids and I would feed it ants, mealworms, crickets etc and it was so cool to see how it trapped the insect and the more it struggled the tighter the plant would grasp the insect then slowly devour it!!

The only grow within a 100 mile radius of Wilmington NC.
This has me wondering, does venom work against plants? Maybe not a neurotoxin but cytotoxins? Do those work against plants?

How tf does a plant with no ‘muscles’ appear so strong?

Had a Venus Fly Trap as a kid, bought it from a Walmart of all places. Anyway, it hadn’t eaten any bugs for a few days so, thinking it was hungry,I gave it a chunk of meat from a McDonald’s burger. It was dead in two days.Â

Flytraps actually consume quite a few spiders. all the ones I have outdoors get them all the time.
I think they come to nibble on the nectar at night and then get caught
Here’s the male version. Smaller and brownish looking.

Based on my experience with black widows, I still don’t believe that thing is dead.
I saw Venus Flytraps in the wild in North Carolina. They only exist naturally in that region and seemed so vulnerable.
Im surprised the spider can’t push it’s way out TBH. The plant’s strength is impressive
I feel like I read that it’s not ideal for the legs to be hanging out and can lead to the trap dying.
Looks delicious
Tune in next week for Gorilla V GrizzlyÂ
Damn that’s a pretty spider
You know, I don’t think about how cool it is that a plant eats insects enough.
